Apple issues urgent fixes for serious security vulnerabilities in iOS and iPadOS

The company quickly fixed a serious security flaw in its most recent iOS and iPadOS versions. To address a WebKit vulnerability that is now being aggressively exploited, the tech giant published Rapid Security Response patches, namely iOS 16.5.1 and iPadOS 16.5.1

The new version aims to resolve the issues created by the 21 June update release

Apple has released urgent security updates for iOS 16.5.1 (a), iPadOS 16.5.1 (a), and macOS Ventura 13.4.1 to address a vulnerability in the WebKit browser that could allow attackers to execute arbitrary code.

To install the updates, users can follow the same process as a typical update. On an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > General > Software Update. On a Mac, go to the Apple menu > System Preferences > General > Software Update.

The entire installation process should only take a few minutes. Once the updates are installed, your device will restart. Apple is aware of a report that this vulnerability may have been actively exploited. However, it is currently unclear whether any personal data has been compromised as a result.

Apple is committed to providing users with the latest security updates as soon as possible. By installing these updates, you can help to protect your devices from potential security risks.
