BayWa r.e. and New Energy Academy aims to accelerate PH Solar Industry

Wouldn’t it be nice to see a better Philippines entirely powered by solar energy?

“BayWa r.e.” For the first time, a globally renowned renewable energy company in the Philippines and an international educational institution have partnered to offer training modules for solar industry professionals in the Philippines. Solar Trade is a global renewable energy developer, service provider, and distributor.

The New Energy Academy (NEA) is an educational platform that provides technical and business training, practical experience, and access to solar design & sales software to train and certify solar professionals. The managing director of BayWa r.e., Junrhey Castro, commented on the collaboration. “The solar industry is broad, diverse, and expanding, and we want to be a part of the process of upskilling the technical know-how of installers,” said Solar Trade.

NEA and BayWa r.e. will collaborate on this project by combining resources and skills, developing and implementing certification programs for companies, and applying technologies in the renewable energy sector. This will involve upgrading the skills of Filipino EPCs (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Companies) and rooftop solar installers.

“As the solar industry expanded, we observed a need for solar professionals in our line of work—distributing and servicing inverters, and solar modules, including installing and commissioning projects, big and small—to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills. As a sector, we must ensure that installers are appropriately certified, and the government must ensure that certification standards are met for solar installations.”

“We anticipate that our collaboration will open the door for these procedures. This is the ideal chance to assist not only our clients but also hasten the growth of the Philippine solar industry”, according to Mr. Castro. The program includes BayWa r.e. Solar Trade, and NEA will conduct online training for eight weeks of modules over.

Additionally, the partnership will hold workshops nationwide to better equip solar professionals with the abilities required for their job functions and inspire engineering students to learn about solar, enter the field, and adopt the innovative new technologies on the market.

“Solar Trade makes a long-term commitment to the solar industry. We’re confident that we can bring knowledge to the table to advance the solar industry and unite like-minded people to help the Philippines’ energy transition,” Mr. Castro continued. “We are thrilled to welcome BayWa r.e. as a partner”, said Brenda Valerio, Country Manager for NEA Philippines.

“This will significantly contribute to the rapid growth of solar, storage, and other distributed energy solutions in the high-growth international energy markets. This is a component of our plan to encourage a more significant energy transition in these markets.”
