BPI will charge GCash wallet top-up starting March 1

BPI users must pay ₱10 for topping up their GCash wallet beginning March 2024. No fee for Maya and Vybe though.

GCash has been a staple in online payment as it supports bank top-ups and more. It even featured free top-ups for select entities. However, it won’t no longer be free of charge starting March for BPI.

The Bank of the Philippine Islands announced that it will charge users ₱10 for loading e-wallet to GCash via ECPay on March 1, 2024. If you’re loading other services supported by ECPay, below is the corresponding charges as of January 1, 2024:

  • E-wallet
    • Maya: No fee
    • Vybe: No fee
  • Transportation
    • AutoSweep: ₱13
    • Easytrip: ₱15 (deducted from load amount)
  • Others
    • Beep: ₱10
    • GetGo: ₱10
    • Dibz Pay: No fee

How to Cash-in to GCash using BPI

You need to link your GCash app to BPI to enable the feature. You can do this by launching the GCash app and tapping Cash In. Under the Online Banks, choose BPI and Enroll Now to get started. You must enter your login credentials to link your BPI account.

To cash in to GCash using your BPI account:

  1. Launch your GCash app.
  2. Select Cash In.
  3. Go to My Linked Accounts and choose BPI.
  4. Enter the amount and select an account.
  5. Enter the one-time PIN (OTP) to finish the transaction.

The advisory didn’t include the reason behind the charge for GCash wallet top-up.
