The “titanium” idea both appeared on iPhone 15 Pro and REDMAGIC 8 Pro. But which one actually used the metal?
The word titanium means big because this metal has an excellent weight-to-strength ratio and can resist corrosion well, making it a preferred material in harsh environments. So, having titanium on your smartphone is like having a Blackbird on your palm.
Apple recently unveiled that its iPhone 15 Pro lineup has titanium, which replaces the section once occupied by aluminum. According to the company, the smartphone has “titanium with textured matte glass back” and it refers to the device’s body. Instead of an aluminum frame, iPhone 15 Pro features a titanium one for higher durability and strength.
iPhone fans probably cheered and opened a bottle of champagne after that revelation. But others were not surprised with the idea, including REDMAGIC. Check the image below.
That was posted on Facebook referring to the titanium idea on REDMAGIC 8 Pro. This is a gaming smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the most powerful Qualcomm mobile SoC to date. With this, REDMAGIC 8 Pro can actually support Ray Tracing just like the iPhone 15 Pro.
So, does REDMAGIC 8 Pro have titanium? Not really. But its company, Nubia Technology, went for the titanium idea to give the smartphone a futuristic appeal. According to the official website, REDMAGIC 8 Pro only has a color variant named Titanium, but there’s no actual material present in the device. It means the concept isn’t unique or impossible to do. Though, I wonder why Nubia never released a REDMAGIC 8 Pro with real titanium?
iPhone 15 Pro starts at 70,990 with 128GB storage, while REDMAGIC 8 Pro starts at $649, or ₱36,727.23, which has 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The REDMAGIC 8 Pro Titanium variant has 16GB RAM and 512GB storage but costs $799 or ₱45,215.81.
