Samsung wins Q1 2024 in shipment and market share. But other brands are gaining momentum, thanks to aggressive marketing and diverse strategies.
According to the International Data Corporation Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, the global smartphone shipment rose by 7.8% year over year in Q1 2024. That growth translates to 289.4 million units.
Despite the challenges in many markets, Q1 2024 is the third consecutive quarter in shipment growth. This shows continued recovery of the brands and improved consumer buying potential.
If Apple ended 2023 at the top spot, Samsung took over the position in Q1 2024. IDC suggests that these two will continue their hold at the top of the food chain.
However, other brands like Xiaomi, Transsion, OPPO/OnePlus, and vivo will likely cause the two top-tier OEMs to diversify their plans.
