Three of the iPhone 16 models are receiving better batteries but one of them is getting the nerf hammer.
The iPhone 16 series is back on the rumor mill and this time, the series’ battery capacities leaked! But not all models are getting a power upgrade.
On the popular Chinese blogging website, a tipster suggested that the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone Pro Max are receiving a higher battery capacity compared to their predecessors. It’s obvious that the iPhone 16 Plus is left in the dust. But why?
Let’s look first at the differences:
iPhone 15 (2023) | iPhone 16 (2024) | Difference | |
Base model | 3,349 mAh | 3,561 mAh | Up by 6% |
Pro model | 3,274 mAh | 3,355 mAh | Up by 2.5% |
Pro Max model | 4,441 mAh | 4,676 mAh | Up by 5% |
Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Plus is down by a staggering 9%, from 4,383mAh on the iPhone 15 Plus to 4,006mAh. We don’t know why because the current and next-gen models will likely have the same set of features. The only thing that may directly cause that is a change in size.
However, that’s not the whole picture. If the chipset and display are power efficient, the downgrade won’t matter in real life.
So, chill because we haven’t even seen an official iPhone 16 just yet.
Previously, the alleged iPhone 16 Pro CAD renders showed a dedicated camera capture key.
Besides the design and battery upgrades, the iPhone 16 series was also rumored to have a more powerful SoC, something that maximizes generative AI.
