The realme 11 Pro+ 5G and HONOR 5G are champions of performance, camera, and battery. Both got impressive triple-rear cameras, powerful processors, and ultra-fast charging speed. You’ll definitely get the value of your money either way.

But of course, each individual has preferences when choosing their next buy. So, in this article, we’ll show you what defines realme 11 Pro+ 5G and HONOR 5G.

Design

The realme 11 Pro+ 5G has a solid grip, thanks to the faux leather at the back. The HONOR 90 5G is solid too, but tempered a bit of the cheapness because of the plastic back.

Both phones have their volume rockers and power button at the right, a microphone at the top, a speaker at the bottom alongside the USB-C port, and the card tray beside it. There’s nothing on the left side of these devices. realme 11 Pro+ 5G, however, has an extra speaker at the top of the screen.

Flip the phone and you’ll see the difference in the camera design. The realme 11 Pro+ 5G has a huge camera nestled at the uppermost part. The main lens is at the center, flanked by two sensors while the flash sits atop.

Meanwhile, HONOR 90 5G uses two big camera sockets at the left side. The top socket houses the main camera and the depth sensor, while the lower socket houses the ultrawide and macro sensors and the flash.

The faux leather and circular camera made the realme 11 Pro+ 5G look more glamorous than HONOR 90 5G, thanks to its weird camera housing and that shiny plastic back.

Display

Both realme 11 Pro+ 5G and HONOR 90 5G boast a 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. But there are key differences between these upper mid-rangers.

While the realme 11 Pro+ 5G has a higher screen-to-body ratio than HONOR 90 5G, the latter has two upsides over the former.

HONOR 90 5G features a better display resolution of 1200p over the 1080p on realme 11 Pro+ 5G. Plus, the HONOR smartphone comes with a peak brightness of 1600 nits, eclipsing the 950 max nits on the realme handset.

So, we’re giving HONOR 90 5G a point here for its more feature-packed display screen.

Performance

realme 11 Pro+ 5G is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7050, while HONOR 90 5G sports Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition. These two chipsets are powerful and can handle multitasking and demanding apps with no to little issues.

To dig deeper into their performance, let’s see which one can handle taxing apps and temperature better.

So, we went for Genshin Impact and pushed both smartphones to the limits. The game settings were set to Highest and the FPS was forced to 60, regardless if the devices could achieve that number. The goal was to know which device would falter once its chipset becomes hot.

Using the built-in game mode monitor on realme 11 Pro+ 5G, the handset started at 28 degrees Celsius and after 10 minutes of playing the game at the mentioned setting, it ended at 35 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, we had to use a third-party system monitoring app to track the temperature of HONOR 90 5G. The phone started at 27 degrees Celsius and ended at 37 degrees Celsius after 10 minutes of gameplay.

We’ll give the realme handset a point here for its better cooling system.

Check out our gaming tests below.

Software

The realme 11 Pro+ 5G runs Android 13 and Realme UI 4.0, while Android 13 and MagicOS 7.1 powers HONOR 90 5G. Each custom Android skin has its good and bad, but realme’s UI is familiar and straightforward with just a small need for adjustment.

realme 11 Pro+ 5G features the classic home screen + app drawer interface out of the box. But you can change this in the settings menu under the Home Screen mode. This phone’s interface is easier to navigate if you’ve already used other devices with the same experience.

HONOR’s MagicOS is quite similar to Huawei’s and it may look daunting for casual users. There’s also a learning curve to get used to the ins and outs of this Android skin.

HONOR 90 5G greets you with a home screen where everything is arranged for you. You may also be surprised by Huawei-related stuff. While this home screen style isn’t new, you may find it difficult at first, hence the learning curve. You can enable the app drawer by going to the settings menu, Home screen and wallpaper, and Home screen style.

If you’re an Android enthusiast, either phone will work for you. But we’ll give a point to realme 11 Pro+ 5G for its user-friendly interface that caters to most users.

Camera

These two smartphones have amazing cameras, letting users capture beautiful moments indoors and outdoors in a snap. However, being mid-rangers, they’re not always on point with some weaknesses here and there.

realme 11 Pro+ 5G sports a triple-rear camera setup with 200MP main shooter from Samsung, 8MP depth ultrawide sensor, and 2MP macro sensor. Its front-facing camera is a 32MP lens from Sony.

HONOR 90 5G, on the other hand, offers a triple-rear camera setup composed of a 200MP main shooter, 12MP ultrawide lens, and 2MP macro sensor.

Check out the captured images using the rear cameras below.

If you’ve noticed, realme 11 Pro+ 5G captures are between dull and natural with a bit of softness. It really depends on the subject and the lighting available.

HONOR 90 5G seems to have better image processing but sometimes it’s a bit aggressive in retouching color and saturation.

Yet these two get a point each from their uncommon strengths. realme 11 Pro+ 5G offers optical image stabilization in video recording, which is better than the electronic version on HONOR 90 5G. But HONOR takes credit for its slightly better 0.6 ultrawide view than realme.

See the short video captures of these devices below.

Moving to the front-facing camera, both smartphones have no issue in capturing social-media-worthy selfies. The only thing very noticeable is the imaging processing, where realme 11 Pro+ 5G makes it closer to reality.

HONOR 90 5G’s may sometimes sacrifice facial details, like reducing blemishes and trimming out facial hair. Although good for social media, overdoing it removes the naturalness of the subject.

Thus, we’ll give the point to realme 11 Pro+ 5G.

Audio

realme 11 Pro+ 5G outright wins this, thanks to its stereo speakers, which dwarfs the single-firing speaker on HONOR 90 5G. Sadly, neither handset offers a 3.5-mm headphone jack for music savvy users.

Anyway, no surprise that realme gets a score here for better listening experience when watching, streaming, or gaming without headphones.

Battery

The two handsets come with a 5000mAh battery pack for all-day performance. On top of numerous factors, such as actual phone usage, wireless connectivity, and software optimization, the next big deal is the charging speed.

Between these two, realme 11 Pro+ 5G can charge up to 100 watts via SUPERVOOC technology. This makes HONOR 90 5G’s charging speed of up to 66 watts slower in comparison.

The realme handset obviously gets a point here for letting users do more everyday.

Takeaway

The prices of both smartphones are quite close. realme 11 Pro+ 5G is priced at ₱24,999 while HONOR 90 5G is at ₱24,990. These price tags will net you a 12GB/512GB model, which should be a good daily driver. So, which one is the best choice for you?

HONOR 90 5G received points from its fantastic display and well-designed rear cameras. Although it’s undoubtedly a good choice, it fell short on only having a single speaker, lack of OIS, and slightly underpowered front-facing camera. Still, it’s recommended for tech enthusiasts and those who want to try something new.

realme 11 Pro+ 5G received points because of its simpler software, better selfie camera, OIS for video, stereo speakers, and much faster charging speed. This is the better choice if you want everything set right out of the box; no complexity, no adjustments, just power up and play. It’s recommended for everyone – tech enthusiasts and casual users.
