realme GT5 to push the limits of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

President of Realme China Xu Qi Chase posted on Weibo that there are now over 30 smartphone models with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but he doesn’t believe that any of them have “really touched the performance limit”

The realme GT5 is expected to use the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and up to 24GB of RAM, which would be the most RAM in any smartphone to date. This is according to Digital Chat Station, a well-known leaker. Only one phone currently has 24GB of RAM, the Red Magic 8S Pro+, but more are on the way. The GT5 will also have LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, which are the latest and fastest types of RAM and storage available.

The GT5 is expected to have two versions, similar to the recent GT Neo 5. One version will have a 4,600mAh battery and 240W fast charging, while the other version will have a 5,000mAh battery and 150W fast charging. The 240W fast charging is particularly impressive, as it can charge the phone from empty to full in just 15 minutes.

The “GT5” name was officially confirmed way back and we’ve been hearing murmurs of a GT5 Pro with a periscope zoom camera (with a 64MP OV64B sensor). This is in addition to a 50MP main (IMX9-series 1/1.4” sensor) and an 8MP ultra wide. The display is said to be a 6.74” 1.5K AMOLED panel with 144Hz refresh rate (similar to the GT3).

That’s all unofficial info, of course, realme’s official teasers should start checking off such details as we get closer to the GT5 launch later this month.

Overall, the realme GT5 is shaping up to be a very powerful and versatile smartphone. It will have the latest and most powerful processor, a lot of RAM, and fast charging. It will also have two versions to choose from, so you can pick the one that best suits your needs.
