Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 launched: A certified flagship killer?

Snapdragon’s newest flagship killer will debut with the Redmi Note 13 Pro!

Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 mid-range processor promises a major boost in performance and features over its predecessor. It’s built on a 4nm process and has four high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores, and it’s expected to debut in the upcoming Redmi Note 13 Pro on September 21, 2023.

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 also includes an unnamed Adreno GPU that can support FHD+ displays with a 144Hz refresh rate. It supports up to 12GB of 3200MHz LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage.

For connectivity, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 has a Snapdragon X62 5G modem that can achieve peak speeds of 2.9Gbps when paired with the processor. It also supports 5G millimeter wave technology and Wi-Fi 6E.

The chip also supports multiple navigation technologies, including QZSS, Galileo, BeiDou, NavIC, GLONASS, GPS, and L1/L5 dual-band positioning.

For photography, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 has the Qualcomm Spectra 12-bit ISP, which allows for triple cameras to shoot simultaneously and will allow for 200MP photography and 4K at 30fps video recording. It also offers AI noise reduction.

Other features include the Snapdragon Smooth listening technology, which should offer clear audio for calls and media consumption, and the Quick Charge 4+, which should support up to 100W of charging.

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is expected to arrive in multiple mid-range phones later this year. However, there have been no benchmarking results spotted online yet, so it is unclear how the chip will perform.
