Spotify raising prices of subscriptions this July

Spotify will release a new price list for its subscription plans but it excludes one premium plan.

Music-streaming giant Spotify is back with a price hike for its subscription plans. This is the second price hike in just a year.

The new prices are as follows:

  • Main Premium Ad-Free: $11.99, up by almost 10%
  • Duo Plan: $16.99, up by $2
  • Family Plan: $19.99, up by $3
  • Student Plan: $5.99 (no change)

In July last year, Spotify also raised its prices and it included an increase in the monthly fee of the Student Plan. Subscribers will receive an email detailing the price increase for next month.

The real reason behind the price hike is a bit mysterious because Spotify seems to be in good shape. It had a 20% increase in revenue and a 14% in premium subscribers.

Meanwhile, Spotify’s greatest rival, Apple Music, is yet to make any price changes. Apple Music still charges users of $10.99 for the Individual Plan and $16.99 for the Family Plan.

Here are the Spotify premium plans for PH:

  • Mini: ₱7 for one day for one mobile account and up to offline listening of 30 songs for a single device
  • Individual: ₱149 for two months for one Premium account
  • Family: ₱239 for two months for up to six Premium accounts with content control
  • Duo: ₱199 for two months for two Premium accounts
  • Student: ₱75 for two months for 1 verified Premium account and discount for eligible students

Earlier this year, Spotify removed the lyrics for free users. Check it out below.
