TECNO POVA 6 Pro Gaming Review – Unique Blend of Style and Performance

From unboxing to ultimate test: We dive into the TECNO POVA 6 Pro’s gaming prowess!

Following our initial impressions, we’re gearing up for a deep dive into the gaming capabilities of the TECNO POVA 6 Pro. This highly anticipated budget-gaming phone from TECNO is slated for release soon, but we’ve managed to snag a unit early and put it through its paces.

To thoroughly evaluate gaming performance, we’ll conduct a comprehensive 90-minute benchmark test. This test will encompass three popular titles: Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Call of Duty: Mobile, and Genshin Impact, with each game played for 30 minutes. During the test, we’ll meticulously monitor frame rate stability, thermal throttling, and battery consumption to provide a well-rounded assessment.

Call of Duty: MobileMediumHighVery smooth
Genshin ImpactLowest60Good

While the MediaTek Dimensity 6080 coupled with the 8+256GB storage combo delivers solid performance for a majority of mobile games, but reaching the absolute highest graphics may push its limits. This is evident in demanding titles like Genshin Impact. However, it’s impressive that the TECNO POVA 6 Pro maintained a consistent 60 FPS during our 30-minute test.

Mobile Legends32.1°36.7°
Call of Duty36.7°37.6°
Genshin Impact37.6°41.6°

Even after an hour and a half of pushing the phone to its limits, it remains just comfortable enough thanks to its impressive thermal management system dubbed the “POVA Super Cooling System”.

Battery consumption

Take note that the TECNO POVA 6 Pro boasts bypass charging. This innovative feature allows you to plug in your charger during gameplay, bypassing the battery and directly powering the phone’s motherboard. Not only does this prevent unnecessary battery wear, but it also helps maintain optimal performance by reducing heat generation during extended gaming sessions.

For the battery drain test, here are the results for 30 minutes of heavy gaming for each game:

GAMESDischarge
Mobile Legends9% of battery percentage
Call of Duty16% of battery percentage
Genshin Impact11% of battery percentage

The findings could first alarm some users, but don’t worry—all games are set to their highest playable settings(which isn’t the highest possible settings), so the phone is operating at peak efficiency for 1 and a half hour. For the majority of phones, an average of 12% battery loss over thirty minutes of intense gaming is usual. As long as the phone supports rapid charging, this won’t be an issue.

Final thoughts

The TECNO POVA 6 Pro delivers a compelling package for budget-minded mobile gamers. While the MediaTek Dimensity 6080 might not conquer the absolute highest graphical settings, it provides smooth and stable performance for the majority of games.

Additionally, the innovative bypass charging and upgraded cooling system technology extends battery life and minimizes heat generation during extended gaming sessions, further enhancing the gameplay experience.

Ultimately, the TECNO POVA 6 Pro carves out a niche for itself as a powerful and affordable option for casual and moderate mobile gamers who prioritize performance and battery life within their budget. It’s a solid contender in the budget-gaming smartphone market, offering a compelling balance of features and value.
