YouTube content creators getting new tool for dubbing videos in other languages

Reach more people globally with an upcoming AI dubbing tool to be integrated into YouTube.

Not everyone is happy with subtitles because reading text can sometimes take away the fun. Thus, videos have been dubbed for a wider audience. For content creators, reaching all corners of the globe is huge in upping their popularity. This is why they take advantage of automated subtitles like on YouTube. But soon, they’ll get access to automated dubbing with the help of Aloud, a service from Google’s Area 120 in-house incubator.

Aloud’s primary goal is to remove the time and cut the cost associated with dubbing, which typically requires talented narrators and other professionals. According to the service’s website, Aloud can “get a quality dub in just a few minutes” and users can choose the type of narrator they want, such as Portuguese (Portugal) or Portuguese (Brazil), and Spanish (Spain) or Spanish (United States).

So, how does it work? Any content Aloud works with will undergo four steps. First, the AI will make a transcription. Next, content creators can edit the text-based translation. Then, the tool translates and generates the dub. After all that, creators can now publish their content.

Just keep in mind that Aloud is still new and you may encounter bugs here and there. But you can bet that the devs will continue to work on it.

Aloud does not charge anyone for dubbing videos, as per the website. The tool takes around 10 minutes to dub a 5-minute video, so hug your patience for longer content.
