Comeback Na Ba Ito?! LG Back In The Mobile Game With LG Ultra Tab

HOLY POGGERS! The king is back in its palace…sorta. It’s been quite a while after LG’s retirement sa mobile industry, but this recent tablet release might give some hope na magbabalik na soon ang ating beloved creative smartphone brand? Magdilang anghel sana!

It was a quiet August night ng biglang may na-resurrect back from the dead kahit di pa Halloween: it’s the mobile division ng LG. Kung matatandaan, nag-close ang kanilang smartphone division last July 2021 dahil na rin sa pagkalugi dahil walang masyadong bumibili raw ng kanilang phones, wala silang clear identity, masyadong mahal then biglang baba in just a few days ang kanilang latest releases, and bad marketing tactics, among others.

As diehard LG stans dito sa Unbox Diaries, we can’t help but to admire the brand’s sticking to their guns mula sa kanilang innovative designs, unique features (no matter how gimmicky it is) at kanilang hindi pagbitaw sa headphone jack, SD card, radio at iba pa kahit sa mga flagship devices nila— mas dinagdagan pa lalo because of their inclusion of the fabulous Quad DAC feature that turns any regular earphone into a much better sounding one, at ang DTS 3D Surround effect na akala mo nasa kuwarto mo mismo at live ang pinapakinggan mo.

Pero mabalik tayo sa topic: is this the awakening of a sleeping giant? Is LG testing the waters para sana, if maging successful, mag-open ang kanilang mobile division again? Hopefully in the future, yes.

What is the LG Ultra Tab? Announced last month, ito ay isang tablet na gawa ng LG, the first since almost a year. May 10.35 inch IPS LCD display siya (medyo peculiar display choice), may 1200 x 2000 resolution, at 225 ppi, meaning, for indoor use siya since IPS LCD displays can be dim sa bright light kagaya ng araw. May stylus support in siya at yes, it still has the MIL-STD-810G, meaning waterproof siya (possibly IP68) at puwedeng ipangharabas.

Android 12 na ang OS nito, matched with a decent Snapdragon 680 processor, paired with the classic Adreno 610, to utilized its octa-core memory better. Pagdating naman sa memory, mayroon siyang 4GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM—not bad. Expandable din ang external memory niya via microSD hanggang 512GB.

Sa usapang camera naman, may 8MP camera siya sa likod at 5MP sa harapan. It’s not like you will use it always sa pag-picture, pero it’s always welcome for ocassional shots or camera for videocall purposes/streaming. May autofocus ang rear habang fixed focus ang sa selfie cam. Both can shoot 1080p videos.

Sa battery naman, dito kami natuwa because it has a massive 7,040mah Li-ion battery with 25W fast charging, and Quick Charge 3.0, perfect for long duration of usage. Type-C na rin naman siya kaya future-proof.

May apat siyang speakers na mounted on each corner, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack (hopefully, i-implement din nila ang Quad-DAC/DTS 3D Surround), accelerometer, proximity, compass; available siya in Charcoal Gray, and around 320EUR or Php18,835 SRP sa Pilipinas.

In conclusion, isa itong welcome addition sa LG Mobile roster nila, even though for Wi-Fi usage lang ito, ang intended use niya is for indoors or office. Although hindi siya exactly pasok sa standards ng isang typical LG device, hopefully this isn’t the last time na gagawa sila ng smartphones, sana hindi lang ito one-off affair from them.

Dito sa ating bansa, may mga ilan-ilang Facebook groups na dedicated sa all things LG like for example, LG V50 / V50s ThinQ USERS (https://www.facebook.com/groups/414690816707934), hindi lang naman strictly sa models na iyan ang usapan but all LG phones/devices at least.
