Call of Duty Mobile on its last legs: Warzone is the game to be

With the recent purchase of Microsoft in the entire Activision-Blizzard company, looks like the change in management will lead to Call of Duty: Mobile’s farewell

Microsoft recently stated that in a response for the United Kingdom’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) that “Call of Duty: Mobile is expected to be phased out over time (outside of China) with the launch of Warzone Mobile.”

Here in Asia, Call of Duty: Mobile is owned and developed by Chinese giant Tencent’s subsidiary, TiMi Studios, and not directly Activision-Blizzard.

The mobile version of Warzone is expected to be released this year, with the hopes of swaying more players into Warzone’s much more advanced gameplay and cross-play integration between Warzone via PC and other CoD related games. Meaning, you can continue your progress whenever you’re in a desktop, game console, or mobile.

We already hear the cries of hundreds upon thousands of gamers regarding Microsoft’s intention to bury the hatchet with Call of Duty: Mobile. Warzone is expected to need more high-powered smartphones in order to play the game without issues, and most gamers of CoDM tread in mid-range and entry-level category.

Change is inevitable, but due to Microsoft’s uneven record with decisions in the past, it is fitting to be worried about the top mobile FPS game’s future. Please don’t butcher this, Microsoft? But on the other hand, knowing Tencent’s grasp upon the IP and sales within Asia, it’s the one thing gamers are holding today.
