How to Download and Install the New Android 14 beta

The wait is finally over! Google has officially launched the Android 14 Beta program and Android users cannot wait to try it.

Before you get too excited, this beta release is currently available for eligible Pixel devices, which includes almost the entire Pixel lineup starting from Pixel 4a and up to Pixel 7 Pro. Adding to that, it’s important to note that the initial beta release may not be stable and could have bugs and issues.

So, we highly discourage users who rely on their Pixel device for day-to-day use, not to download it. Google recommends waiting until the Android 14 release reaches platform stability, which typically takes a few months, before installing the beta release on your primary device.

Pixel users who are part of the Android 13 QPR3 Beta program can easily switch to the Android 14 Beta 1 without having to clean data on their phones. This transition is seamless and allows users to try out the latest features and improvements. However, users should keep in mind that future releases may require them to erase all data on their Pixel device when moving from the QPR3 Beta to the 14 Beta program.

How to Install the Android 14 Beta

If you want to install the Beta program, you can do so by:

  1. visiting the official website at google.com/android/beta.
  2. Once there, click on the “View your eligible devices” button, select your eligible Pixel device,
  3. Click on the “Opt in” box to enroll in the Beta program.
  4. Then, on your Pixel device, go to Settings > System > System update and follow the on-screen instructions to install the Android 14 Beta 1 update.
