iPhone 15 Overheating? Apple blames apps and bugs, not hardware design

Maybe Genshin Impact is the culprit? Lol

Apple has acknowledged user concerns regarding the overheating issues reported with the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro models. Contrary to speculation, the company has clarified that these problems are not related to the phone’s hardware design.

Forbes has pointed out that an update to Instagram, version 302, released on September 27th, has already been implemented to address some of these issues.

According to Bloomberg, an unnamed Apple spokesperson cited specific apps like Instagram, Uber, and the game Asphalt 9 as potential culprits that could cause the devices to operate at higher temperatures than usual. Apple has assured users that there is no safety risk associated with these thermal issues.

Instead, factors such as the use of USB-C power adapters with a charging capacity exceeding 20W and background processing shortly after a phone’s restoration can contribute to the device feeling warmer than what iPhone users are accustomed to.

Apple further stated to Forbes that the upcoming fix, expected to be part of iOS 17.1, will not result in performance throttling, dispelling concerns raised by some, including Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who had suggested this possibility.

With the iPhone 15 models, Apple introduced significant changes, including the new A17 Pro chip manufactured using TSMC’s advanced 3nm process and the incorporation of titanium in the frame’s construction. The A17 Pro chip, with its new six-core GPU, is a major selling point for the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, enabling them to run graphics-intensive games like Resident Evil Village at nearly console-level graphics quality, set to release later this year.
