Despite being the titans in the global smartphone market, both Samsung and Apple showed a decline year over year. Meanwhile, both Xiaomi and Transsion had massive growth in the market share.
For Q1 2024, Samsung’s lead could be attributed to the Galaxy AI and the Galaxy S4 Series while Xiaomi’s momentum was driven by the Redmi A3.
According to Chiew, Xiaomi and Transsion have saturated the entry-level segment with new offerings. Samsung, OPPO, and vivo, on the other hand, are investing heavily in the premium market segment.
AI will now become the center of the smartphone industry this year, thanks to upcoming AI-focused chipsets. Expect to see it in almost every aspect of new phones, more than ever.
