Facebook Messenger now lets you edit your messages

Meta is introducing a significant enhancement to Facebook Messenger by rolling out default end-to-end encryption for personal messages and calls. This security feature, previously an opt-in choice, is now automatically enabled for all users, marking a major stride towards a more secure and private messaging experience. This development underscores our commitment to safeguarding your messages.

In addition to this pivotal security update, Facebook Messenger is unveiling a suite of new features that empower users to have more control over their messaging interactions. Notably, the platform is introducing the ability to edit messages within 15 minutes of sending—a long-awaited feature. Furthermore, a new “Disappearing Messages” option, applicable exclusively to conversations with end-to-end encryption activated, ensures that messages vanish after 24 hours.

Acknowledging the importance of user feedback, we are also enhancing the quality of photos and videos, initially for a select group of users with plans to extend these improvements to a broader audience in the coming months.

To further personalize your messaging experience, Facebook Messenger now includes a toggle for read receipts, providing users with the flexibility to manage their visibility in conversations. These updates collectively represent a comprehensive effort to deliver a safer, more secure, and feature-rich messaging service. We are excited to unveil these advancements after years of meticulous investment and testing. Your privacy is paramount, and we are dedicated to continually refining and enhancing your Messenger experience.
