What’s the deal with the CCTV that captured the Bolt Hole Bar brawl?

Recently, famous personality Awra Briguela was involved in a bar brawl. We are still confused with the details of how and why but one thing is on our minds– what’s the deal about that bar CCTV?

Roughly a week ago, news about celebrity Awra Briguela surfaced on the internet about a brawl in Makati involving Awra and a group of people, after a guy from the other group tried to touch Awra’s friend inappropriately.

This sparked a heated argument between the two camps who were both drunk and not in the best shape (mentally). Awra has been the subject of many memes about pictures of the celebrity posing and showing muscles — that is likened to a bouncer, bodybuilder, and the like. Awra’s camp doesn’t seem to be bothered by this.

The Bolt Hole Bar in Poblacion, Makati

The Bolt Hole Bar in Makati is one of the most popular spots in the area — frequently visited by famous personalities most of the time, including Awra. Aside from an obviously endless Rule 34 jokes that can spawn from the bar’s name alone– we only see footage taken from a smartphone and there’s no prior CCTV video released, until now.

Oddly enough, the first to leak this exclusive footage from the Bolt Hole Bar is none other than the second-most famous scammer in the Philippines behind a certain president who ruled the country with an iron fist for 20 years, Christian Albert Gaza– chismoso by day (with an annoying voice), and full-blown scammer by night.

Left: OTNIS. Right: CCTV footage from The Bolt Hole Bar

How did OTNIS (Gaza) manage to get ahold of that precious footage? Maybe because of his status as a clout-chaser and he also has significant clout as he established himself as the first to correspond to gossip moments after the media even knew about it.

If not for his goofy ahh narration of how Awra is actually in the wrong here according to The Scammer (TM) because Awra forced the guy to strip bare naked and refused, we have a clearer sight and a clear mind without his ramblings to decide for ourselves about the issue.

But all those explanations from us are just an intro– we are more interested in what’s happening with the CCTV footage. There’s a whole array of CCTV cameras out there. Some are black and white, some with crappy quality, others can record up to an insane number of resolutions and are capable of zooming without losing detail; then there are cameras that can do everything we just mentioned, and with sound.

The Bolt Hole Bar chose to have a mix of standard CCTV cameras and a few with fish-eye lenses. Why though? There are plenty of valid reasons. One is to accommodate all areas in the footage– no corners can be cut all are caught on camera.

Another reason is that the greater field of vision that fisheye security cameras offer over conventional cameras makes them the best option for monitoring sizable regions. They are affordable, simple to install, and increase security by obtaining a 360-degree view of a space.

However, fish-eye lenses may produce lower-resolution images than standard bullet cameras.

Bullet camera vs fish-eye lens

We wonder what type of CCTV camera was used in the Bolt Hole Bar incident. We have a few guesses of what it might be and maybe you can get an idea to it so you can install it in your property. (Note: All links aren’t sponsored.)

#1. V380 D3 CCTV Camera – The most affordable of the bunch, it supports microSD cards up to 128GB, can record 25FPS footage, with dual-stream encoding (H.264), supports two-way audio with built-in microphone and speakers that can capture up to 360 degrees coverage — all in a small neat light-bulb form factor for just PHP881.00.

#2. Hamrol 4K 8MP 1.7MM Fisheye Lens Face Detection – Much more expensive but offers better camera quality (we personally like the POE 48V 8MP variant) it can record up to 2K but with a lower frame rate. All the goodies that made our first selection is greatly improved in this model. After all, you’re buying it for PHP2,349 for the maxed-out variant.

#3. Hikvision DS-2CD2121G1-IDW1 Dome Camera – Of course, the CCTV camera discussion isn’t complete without mentioning the GOAT, Hikvision. Unlike our previous picks, this Hikvision camera only offers a fixed angle but when it comes to quality, this is the best of the bunch, and it is also waterproof.

It has the following: 1/2.8″ Progressive Scan CMOS • 1920 × 1080 @30fps • 2.8/4 mm fixed lens • Wi-Fi Connection • H.265+, H.265, H.264+, H.264 • 3D Digital Noise Reduction • Audio I/O: 1 built-in mic, mono sound • IP66

So there you have it, recreate the moment when Awra tanked everybody with your choice of fish-eye CCTV (or lack thereof) camera. Just be sure to not take this seriously, and don’t incite violence, people.
