YouTube tightens grip on Ad Blockers, targeting third-party apps

In June 2023, YouTube began testing methods to curb ad blockers. This effort has escalated into a full-fledged crackdown, with YouTube now targeting third-party apps that bypass their ads.

This expansion aims to disable functionalities within these apps, like opening YouTube ad-free. Users attempting this will encounter error messages restricting content access.

YouTube justifies this move by emphasizing that ad revenue supports creators and keeps the platform free for billions. Their suggested solution, unsurprisingly, remains subscribing to YouTube Premium.
