Poco C40 Finally Released With Unknown Chipset Sounds Like A Gamble

The undisputed brand for high quality mid-range has unveiled a new model, but with an unknown processor, we can’t help but to be skeptical.

Poco, the sub-brand of Xiaomi (except in India), the masters of mid-tier smartphones packed with great features for a fraction of the price is scheduled for a global release in June 26, but the folks in Vietnam decided to launch the new model a week earlier. Aside from a bigger battery, the new entry-level C40 looks a tad bit outdated for us here at Unbox Diaries.

Kicking things off is the large front panel with a 6.71″ LCD with an HD+ resolution and a *let’s all sigh* waterdrop notch for its selfie camera. The fingerprint scanner also take a step back from the usual side mounted setup as you guys guessed… you’ll find it behind.

The cameras are still the same POCO arrangement, you’ll get a fairly generic 13 megapixel camera with a 2 megapixel depth sensor. But don’t be disappointed, because its humongous 6000mAh battery with an 18W charger is pretty good, but as your hope gets high, Xiaomi said that the C40 will only ship a 10W charger in it, so in order to reach its full charging potential, you’ll gonna need to buy another power brick.

Here’s for the fun part (yes, it’s fun but more like of an awkward fun) the chipset isn’t Mediatek, Qualcomm, Kirin, Unisoc, Exynos, or Apple obviously… it’s from JLQ (John Lloyd Qruz? Nah, we’re kidding) based in Shanghai and their processor is named the JR510 and has four 2GHz CPU cores C and four more are clocked at 1.5GHz, while the GPU is a Mali-G52. We research more about it and found out that the processor is roughly equivalent to the speed of either Snapdragon 450 or Helio G35. You probably know already that this IS not intended for heavy gaming or maybe gaming…at all…

Poco C40 are available in two options: a 3/32 GB variant, and a 4/64 GB one — and the external memory can be expanded with the help of microSD’s. The colors that can be choosed from are Black, Green and Yellow, and for the price, it varies depending on the location you are living.

In summary, if you’re expecting for a Poco release on the same league as your Poco M4 Pro 5G or Poco F4’s – this new model that sounds like a neutered C4 bomb will stay perfectly fine as a secondary daily driver or for those people who just wants a fairly price unit for moderate use.
