Some developers just created a Dynamic Island function on an Android phone, notably a Xiaomi one…
This is the first time someone copied Apple’s Dynamic Island function on an Android phone, Xiaomi is clearly interested in adopting the theme, but is yet to approved it. Once passed, it will be available on the MIUI store.
The Dynamic Island is easily Apple’s highlight during the iPhone 14 launch— it’s only available for the Pro models, the feature cloaks the pill-shaped notch and changing it to run widgets like music, calls, timers, Bluetooth pairing, notifications, and much more.
As many Apple features, it is regularly copied by Android developers alike. Apple isn’t secretive of copying functions from the former. And then, with a pinch, someone already developed an Android version of the ‘Dynamic Island’ for a Xiaomi smartphone.
First tipped by Viabhav Jain via TechDroider, the short video uploaded on Twitter shows a Dynamic Island-esque notification plus a music player widget appearing on the upper left corner of Xiaomi’s MIUI software. The theme is called Grumpy UI based on sources, and is currently available in Mandarin exclusively. It managed to hide the pin-hole on the selfie camera when the ‘island’ is expanded.

The Grumpy UI is currently under review and it will probably go live on MIUI Store once approved. It is safe to say that this will be the newest trend among smartphone devices in the near future.
What’s your opinion about it? Is this Dynamic Island inspired function will benefit Android users or this is just a one-off gimmick that improves nothing to Android user’s overall experience? Let us know your opinion below.
