The rumored MediaTek Dimensity 9300 comes with eight efficiency cores and could beat Qualcomm’s next flagship.
A new rumor suggests that MediaTek will unveil the next Dimensity flagship.
On Weibo, popular tipster Digital Chat Station suggested that the new flagship chipset is the Dimensity 9300. But the “flagship” here isn’t just a label as the company wants to bring more to the table.
This alleged Dimensity 9300 has eight performance cores. Yes, you read that right, no efficiency cores at all.
According to the tipster, this first-of-its-kind processor has a core structure of 1+3+4 or one ARM Cortex X4 Prime core, three ARM Cortex X4 cores, and four ARM Cortex A720 cores.
Meanwhile, the expected companion of the new processor is the Immortalis G720 MC12 GPU. The tipster also claimed that the Dimensity 9300 would outperform Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
So, what about the heating? Normally, manufacturers create a chipset with four performance and four efficiency cores to address issues across the board. This is why MediaTek only allowed the max clock speed for Dimensity 9300 at 3.25GHz. That speed is likely on only one of its cores.
Since both chipsets are not yet officially launched, there’s no way to test them in real-life scenarios, such as in extended playthroughs or during a hot day.
If Dimensity 9300 heats up and throttles, it will clock down and this will let Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 win in terms of stability.
MediaTek and Qualcomm are expected to announce their new offers this October.
