Meta’s Twitter competitor, Threads, will be launched later this week on July 6. The app is already available for pre-order on the App Store, and an Android version will be released soon
There is also a website for Threads, but it does not yet offer a login page or any other useful information.
It is officially called “Threads, an Instagram app.” Users will be able to sign up with their Instagram accounts, and their username, followers, and other account information will be migrated automatically. The app is designed for text-based conversations, and it has a similar interface to Instagram.

Posts will have like, comment, repost, and share options. They will also be able to be organized into threads for better user engagement. Users will also be able to add images to their posts. Threads reportedly uses ActivityPub, a decentralized social media protocol that is also used by Mastodon.
